Host your own Restart A Heart Day

Restart A Heart Day is a global initiative to raise awareness and educate the community about CPR and AEDs in the community.

Time counts in the event of a Sudden Cardiac Arrest. For every minute that passes without intervention, the chance of survival decreases by 10%.

Host a Restart A Heart Day event so you, your friends, family or collegues can be prepared in the event of a Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

Before the day

  • Download your Restart a Heart Day kit.
  • Tell your friends Set a time and place and let people know.
  • Prepare for the day.

On the day

  1. 1 Watch it.

Start your event with a Restart A Heart Day video here or here.

  2. 2 Discuss it.

Use the Host Kit to talk about the video you have watched and learn more about what you, and participants in your event, could do to save someone's life.

  3. 3 Find it.

It is vital for everyone to know the location of their nearest AED (defibrillator) at home, work or play.

Be prepared in the event of a Sudden Cardiac Arrest - use the map in the kit to note your nearest AED, and a backup should it not be accessible in an emergency.

Check nearby public buildings, sports grounds, shopping centres as a start or contact your state/territory ambulance service for assistance in locating an AED.

  4. 4 Make a plan.

Draw up a simple plan for everyone to follow if they witness a Sudden Cardiac Arrest - wherever they are!

It's time for us to join together

Every year in Australia and New Zealand around 30,000 people suffer cardiac arrest. Only one in 10 survives. We can beat that. Make it your aim to know CPR, and increase survival rates until emergency services arrive.
